What changed in each version of 夜光 MML Workshop · Back to the editor
v1.3.02026/09/07Time resolution and 3D mixing
- Time resolution (settings drawer): “Standard (480)” uses this site’s finer ruler and is mainly for exporting to something other than the game (MIDI, MP3, video); “Match the game (96)” follows the game’s own note-value arithmetic, which suits non-standard note values and pasting into the game. Switching reloads the page; your score is kept, the undo history is cleared
- Non-standard note lengths: the toolbar tells you whether this score has any, with two buttons — Restore standard durations turns them back into standard lengths, Use game timing sets the resolution to the game’s 96
- Non-standard length compression (the third option in the optimiser): compression that recomputes with the game’s time resolution. Not one note changes in the game, but non-standard lengths are harder to read and the roll and playback on the site drift — to see it accurately on the site, switch the resolution to 96
- The “notes to deal with” list: scans the whole piece for lengths that cannot be written and notes outside the instrument’s range, listing which score, which track and which bar, a page at a time; Go jumps straight there. The entry point is the red line in the roll toolbar
- 3D mixing per score: the concentric circles at the end of the instrument row, or press
S. Place each instrument in space — the spatial effect only comes through on headphones
v1.2.22026/09/06Shortcuts and instrument settings
- Piano-roll shortcuts:
0for select-only,1–7for the note length (64th included),.for the dot,Ctrl+Ato select the whole track,Ctrl+Dto copy the selection on after itself,Deleteto turn notes into rests,+/-for velocity. While dragging, the arrow keys nudge, and withShiftit is a whole octave or a whole bar - Score tab shortcuts:
[/]change the instrument,Mmutes,Hshows or hides the score on the roll, and addingShiftmeans “this one only”.Mis for your ears,Hfor your eyes - You can see what you are about to draw: the label at the left of the toolbar now shows real note symbols (six lengths × with or without a dot, 13 in all). In select-only mode it is a dashed box
- Instruments in use (settings drawer): set the default instrument for new scores, and hide the instruments you rarely use from the instrument dropdown
v1.2.12026/09/05Sound bank update and a wider range
- Gayageum (
@28) and Bass (@29) added: pick them from the instrument dropdown - New built-in sound bank: the file grew from 29 MB to 37 MB. If you use the site offline it is downloaded once more — the offline sound bank in the settings drawer handles that itself
- Range extended to
o8: the roll has four more rows at the top and the highest note iso8d+. Scores that wroteo8used to be clamped back too7band are now read as written — the four notes of the game’s top octave are back
v1.2.02026/09/01Make MP4 video
- Make MP4 video: turn a score into a piano waterfall video — notes falling from the top, splashing effects as they land on the keyboard. The button sits in the export area of the file box, under “Mixdown MP3 export”
- Pick the look: 12 note styles, 9 landing effects (plus “None”), and a 30-colour palette
- 16:9 landscape, with the resolution chosen by device (1080p on a computer, 720p on phones and tablets)
- Spatial mix: tick it and the result is audible as a 3D space on headphones; arrange where each score sits, on the same layout the mixdown MP3 export uses
v1.1.12026/08/27Time signatures and section marks
- Time signatures and meter changes: bar lines, inserting and deleting bars, and import/export all follow the actual time signature
- Section marks: tell them apart, jump to them and edit them on the roll and the horizontal scrollbar
- Inserting and deleting bars across the whole piece: every score, time signature and section mark moves together
- Score recognition import from images and PDFs
v1.1.02026/08/20Percussion roll
- Percussion roll: on a score whose instrument is Drum set, the piano roll switches to a layout built for drums
- Notes become a shape at the moment of the hit plus a thin line for the length
- Dragging up or down swaps the drum, not the pitch; the empty rows in between are skipped automatically
- Not a single character of the MML changes — all that changes is which row a note is drawn on. Turn it off in the settings to go back to the ordinary piano roll
Symptom: pressing Transpose (especially "All tracks") on a piece containing a Drum set score looked completely normal and still played on the site, but after pasting into the game the drums were gone entirely.
Cause: for percussion the pitch is not a pitch but a pad number. Drum set has only 15 keys, and adding or subtracting semitones lands on positions with no key — the game has no such note, so nothing sounds.
Fix: Drum set scores no longer offer transposition (the button is greyed out and says why), and "All tracks" now skips them and tells you how many it skipped. Transposition for every other instrument is unchanged.
v1.0.92026/08/17Saving
- Local file library: your work is stored in the browser (IndexedDB) and survives closing the tab
- Cloud saves: sign in and it is kept on your account, so another device picks it up
- Save manager: create, replace, delete, rename
- Ctrl+S to save quickly
- Several scores can be packed into one zip and taken away together
Symptom: once the sign-in credential stopped being valid (closing the browser, or the credential expiring), signing in again lost the score you were editing.
Fix: two safety nets at once.
- Persistent sign-in — credentials are now stored persistently, so closing and reopening the browser does not sign you out, and an expiring credential is renewed automatically instead of dropping you into an empty editor.
- Automatic local save in the browser — what you edit is also written to the browser local storage. Even if the connection or the sign-in really does break, the score is still there when you come back.
Handling for the sharing features when a credential expires was added at the same time, so there are no more failures without an explanation.
v1.0.82026/08/16Mixdown export and zoom
- Mixdown MP3 export: 16 tabs mixed into one MP3, to share the finished piece directly
- Zoom: Ctrl+wheel, the toolbar +/- buttons, and pinch on a phone (one axis at a time)
- Mobile layout: switching tabs no longer steals focus, the toolbar folds away when the soft keyboard appears, the divider can be dragged on short screens
- Better note lengths when capturing percussion
- Fixed formatting problems in MML import and export
v1.0.72026/08/15Phones and tablets can edit
- Touch rebuilt: a new note is drawn by dragging (the pen lands when you let go), and a long press picks a note up to move it
- Virtual joysticks: two sticks to pan the roll on a phone
- Selection fine-tuning mode for phones
- Context menus completed (two menus, opened by long press on touch)
- Four quick buttons on every tab: mute, solo, show or hide, view one / view all
- Playback shortcuts now cover the keyboard media keys; auditioning has its own channel, so the keys work during playback too
v1.0.62026/08/14The new Mabinogi release (major rework)
This version replaced the whole score model: one tab = one player complete score, instead of one tab per track.
- One score holds 4 parts (melody / harmony 1 / harmony 2 / vocal), and switches between an instrumental and a vocal score
- Up to 16 players together (the tab limit went 15 → 16)
- Three panes on one axis: the piano roll, the four-part text and the timeline all move together
- Note context menu: copy, paste, insert time, delete time
- Playback shortcuts: space to play and pause, arrow keys to move
- Velocity shortcuts, and a quick jump to the MML text
- Bar marks, adjustable cell width and height, mute all / hide all
- Stronger MIDI capture: percussion split out, and the drum kit split by limb
- .mid export: one MTrk per tab, with the drum kit on GM channel 10
- Fixes: long rest parsing, notes vanishing while dragged, irregular line wrapping, MIDI triplet capture
v1.0.52026/08/10Readability in the editor
- MML syntax colouring: notes, octaves and lengths each get their own colour in the text pane
- Fixed how Ctrl multi-select was detected
v1.0.42026/08/09Languages and search
- Four languages: Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, with the URL prefixes
/en//ja//ko/ - Dialogs for adjusting tempo and volume
- Three guide pages went live
v1.0.32026/08/07Smart capture and merging
- Smart capture: MIDI comes in already split into tracks, with instruments assigned
- Merging scores: two scores stacked into one
v1.0.22026/08/05Compression and selection
- MML compression: shortens a score automatically so it fits the character limit in the game
- Added the "autosave" switch
- Start and end lines: play only one span, copy only one span
- Multi-select notes
- Illegal characters highlighted: characters the game will not read are marked in the editor first
v1.0.12026/08/04Sign-in and files
- Google sign-in
- File import: external MML files can be read in
- File export: what you have written can be saved out as a file
- MML formatting fixes (line breaks and indentation are easier to read)
